Why do baby teeth need to be fixed. They'll just fall out anyways."

Though the baby teeth will fall out, some will stay in your child's mouth until age 12. Decayed teeth should be filled to prevent the decay from spreading deep into the pulp, which can cause pain and infection, and can hurt your child's health. Extracted baby teeth may need a spacer to hold the space for the permanent tooth to come in.

A child's first dental exam should be 6 months after the first teeth erupt or by age 1, as recommended by the Canadian Dental Association, and then an exam every six months so that problems can be detected early. This also allows you to find out if the cleaning you are doing at home is effective and the child also learns that going to the dentist helps prevent problems.
